Paul A. O’Keefe

Paul A. O’Keefe, Ph.D. is a social psychologist and an Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour and HRM at the University of Exeter Business School. He also directs the Mindsets & Motivation Lab and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General. His research focuses on how mindsets, interest, and passion influence motivation, goal pursuit, and achievement.

Prof. O’Keefe’s work has been published in leading journals such as Psychological Science, the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, the Journal of Organizational Behavior, the Journal of Educational Psychology, Computers in Human Behavior, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. Furthermore, he is the lead editor of The Science of Interest.

He has also secured over $2,500,000 USD in competitive grant funding, including more than $1,500,000 USD as a principal investigator. These grants were awarded by funders such as the National Institutes of Health, United Kingdom Research and Innovation, the Workforce Development Applied Research Fund, the Ministry of Education, and the National Institute of Education.

His work has also had significant impact beyond academia, having been featured in scores of media outlets including The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, Washington Post, The Atlantic, BBC, CBC Radio, ABC Australia, Financial Times, and Forbes.
